Life of a wallet also depends on the interlining material used in the wallet making

A wallet leather can’t be very thick, otherwise it will be very difficult to fold it in the center. Usually wallet leathers are thinned by a process called skiving to convert them to needed thickness. Thinner leather is certainly weaker than a thicker leather. To counter this, wallets have an interlining material on the inside. This interlining layer ensures that leather does not get overstretched and it adds to the life of wallet.

The Role of Interlining in Wallet Durability

Pair text with an image to focus on your chosen product, collection, or blog post. Add details on availability, style, or even provide a review.

A good interlining material is essential in making a good wallet. The grade of interlining material can be checked by cutting open the wallet or by actually using the wallet. A good leather paired with good interlining material will last for over 5 years even with most intensive usage.

Types of Interlining Materials

Interlining materials come in various types, such as fabric, synthetic, or reinforced layers. High-quality wallets often use durable interlining that resists wear and tear, even with daily use. On the other hand, wallets with low-grade interlining may lose their shape, stretch out, or wear down faster, reducing the wallet's overall lifespan.

Choosing a Durable Wallet

When selecting a wallet, look for brands or descriptions highlighting the quality of interlining materials. While it’s difficult to judge the interlining without dissecting the wallet, premium wallets from reputable brands usually provide details about the materials used. Investing in a wallet with strong interlining ensures better durability and value for money.
