Two Colours. One Construction. A Boat Shoe With a Point of View.
Most boat shoes are single-colour. The USS Nimitz is not. Navy Nubuck upper, black leather lower — two leathers from the same family, different in colour, matched in quality. The hand-laced white thread traces the boundary between them with a precision that you notice immediately or realise slowly you have been looking at the whole time.
The perforated vamp detail is minimal — symmetrical, restrained. Everything on this upper was decided. Nothing is there to fill space.
The Hand Lacing. Why It Matters Beyond Aesthetics.
The lacing along the moc seam of the USS Nimitz is done by hand — each pass of thread set individually, not driven through by machine at speed. The visible result is a stitch that sits evenly and cleanly between the two leather panels. The functional result is a seam that flexes in step with the leather rather than holding rigid against it.
True Moc Construction — The Standard a Boat Shoe Cannot Do Without.
The boat shoe was invented as a moccasin adapted for the deck. Take away the True Moc construction and you no longer have a boat shoe — you have a shoe styled to look like one. Most of what is sold in India in this category falls into the second group.
True Moc means the leather wraps continuously beneath the foot and stitches into the upper in a single unbroken seam. No cemented midsole. No platform. No separate components glued together and finished to hide the join. The shoe is built around the foot, not assembled around a last and finished with adhesive.
The wide opening is part of the same specification. Classical boat shoe design requires an opening generous enough to slip the foot in without forcing it — wider than a standard moccasin, precise enough to still run true to size. Getting both right is where most imitations fail. The USS Nimitz gets both right.
The shoe fits snugly from the first wear and moulds to the shape of your foot within the first few uses. Once settled, the wider opening makes it a genuine slip-on.
Navy Nubuck. The Leather the Upper Deserves.
Nubuck is full grain leather buffed to a fine directional nap. It holds navy dye with a depth smooth leather cannot match — rich and ink-toned in direct light, deepening toward indigo in shade. Rare in genuine leather. Rarer still in a two-colour construction where the navy must sit cleanly against black without reading as a mismatch.
TPR Sole — Reliable, Climate-Consistent, Long Service Life.
The TPR (Thermoplastic Rubber) sole carries a herringbone pattern for reliable anti-skid performance on wet stone, smooth flooring, and outdoor surfaces. TPR retains flexibility in cold climates and resists heat deformation in warm ones — consistent grip whether you are wearing these in January in Delhi or August in Mumbai. It is a different sole category from the superlight compound on the Float series: heavier, more structured, and built for long-term durability over weight reduction.
The Pairing Argument
Navy and black together is a combination that belongs in the part of a wardrobe where things are chosen with some care. Dark selvedge denim, charcoal or slate trousers, navy chinos — the USS Nimitz sits in all of these without competing for attention. The white hand lacing keeps the shoe from reading as heavy despite the dark palette.
This is the boat shoe for someone who already owns a casual tan pair and wants something that works further into the evening, further into darker dressing, and further into occasions where a single-colour shoe would feel either too relaxed or too considered. The USS Nimitz occupies the space between those two without effort.

Boat Shoe Made with Classical Principles
These boat shoes follow all the classical principles of boat shoe. They come with antiskid sole, have wider opening and come in MOCTOE construction. Thick unlined genuine leather gives it long life and also great ventilation
Bigger Opening
The bigger opening is classical trait of boat shoes, it makes getting in and out of the shoe lot easier. Some people describe boat shoes as “looks like a shoe but is as convenient as a slipper”.
True Moccasin Construction
The leather wraps like an envelope below the feet; this construction technique gives the shoes an amazing ability to expand and contract with every step you take in these which adds to its comfort. This technique is somewhat rarely used as it consumes more leather than usual cemented construction. It’s an amazing experience to use shoes made with MOCTOE technique.
Anti-Skid Long Life TR Sole
These boat shoes are made with TR sole with herringbone pattern which gives them greater grip in outdoor conditions. TR sole also gives a stable performance across temperature zones [works well in Colder as well as Hot Geographies]. This sole will last well over the years [even if you use them daily].

What is a Boat Shoe?
Boat Shoe is particular kind of moccasin which has wider opening giving it an open shoe feel to it. This is usually made with softer and thicker leather and is usually unlined. The shoes are made with True-Moccasin construction technique
What is True-Moccasin construction Technique?
True Moccasin construction refers to a technique where the leather swings like an envelope all around the feet. Boat shoes have a snug fit or they fit like socks which means that the leather needs to expand when you walk (the muscles expand when the pressure is on the big toe area). Only true moccasin construction allows for this expansion. This technique consumes 40% more leather but the comfort is unmatchable.
Fashion Tip
Wear these shoes without socks and if you have to wear them with socks then use half socks which are not visible from outside.
What is TPR material?
Thermoplastic Rubber is a special grade material which has qualities of both rubber (in terms of abrasion flexibility) and long life of Special Grade Plastic like PU or EVA. Soles made of this material have a longer life in both cold hot climates.
What's the difference between Faux Leather Shoes and Genuine Leather Shoes?
Faux Leather shoes do not breathe and feet will become hot from inside. Well-made genuine leather shoes (with genuine leather lining) will keep your feet cool even after 10 hours of usage in 40 degree Celsius zones. Genuine leather has 50 times longer life than Faux Leather Shoes.
Anything particular about the sole attachment?
Sole is not pasted with the upper; its actually stitched (or channeled) in the upper. This means that these will last for years and years. This stitching sole attachment also increases the flexibility of the shoes.
